Reporting to the Outdoor Recreation & Challenge Course Coordinator, you will lead registered program participants and private-user groups through a variety of outdoor recreational activities, birthday parties and private groups. Activities may include Archery, Campfire Building, Fire and Shelter Building, Orienteering, Survival Skills, Rock Climbing, Hikes etc.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of the Outdoor recreation programs
  • Communicate and interact with participants and make everyone feel welcome
  • Report to work in sufficient time to ensure the program is ready to start on time
  • Provide a list of supplies/equipment and set up needs required for the program to the ProgramCoordinator
  • The ablility to work in all types of weather
  • Supervise all aspects of the program including participants and volunteers
  • Complete and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner (e.g. attendance records
  • The ability to work outdoors independently
  • Ensure the safety of participants, facilities and equipment at all times
  • With the assistance of the integration team, modify activities to ensure participants withdisabilities are able to participate in programs and be fully integrated into the program setting
  • Perform first aid and fill in all documentation when needed
  • Wear assigned uniform/name tag
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions prior to, during and outside regularprogramming hours.
  • Maintain excellent public relations at all times.
  • Maintain good communication with staff and volunteers, facility users, and the ProgramCoordinator.
  • Understand and implement the policies and procedures of the Facility(s), and of the CommunityServices Department.
  • Represent the City of Richmond Hill in a cooperative, organized, enthusiastic and well-groomedmanner.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule when required, including evenings and/or weekends
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Intermediate First Aid with CPR C and AED (Formerly known as Standard First Aid & CPR Certification)
  • High Five Certification

  • Experience working with the defined age group which is preschool age to adults
  • Experience in an outdoor/nature setting
  • Excellent communication, decision making and customer service skills

  • Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with honesty,
