Within the context of a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, the Long term Care Supervisor works as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide program leadership and to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the designated program. In collaboration with the Manager, supervises program staff up to eight (8) FTEs and assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations by participating in the hiring process and orientation of staff, scheduling and coordinating work assignments, establishing priorities and facilitating workplace solutions, clarifying performance expectations, coordinating on-going team planning, evaluation, and quality improvement activities, preparing statistics and assisting staff with program design and delivery. Provides clinical assessment and treatment services to clients and maintains clinical records. Acts as a clinical resource for the interdisciplinary health care team and students by promoting collaboration and - in collaboration with professional practice - analyses trends, reviews literature, participates in approved research, and recommends changes to modify/change current clinical practices. Coordinates on-going team planning, evaluation and quality improvement activities and participates in approved research, where applicable. QUALIFICATIONS:QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Experience Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).Three (3) years’ recent related clinical experience including one (1) year experience in a supervisory/leadership role in the designated clinical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesComprehensive knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to long term careBroad knowledge of physical therapy or occupational therapy theory and practice within a client/resident centred model of care Broad knowledge of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitionersDemonstrated ability to provide supervision, direction and clinical guidance to others in a team-based environment.Demonstrated ability to facilitate team building and to work both independently and collaboratively.Demonstrated understanding of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety. Demonstrated ability to apply a risk management approach and ethical decision-making principles to complex health situations.Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment. Working knowledge of the principles of adult learning and group dynamics. Working knowledge of facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution techniques and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated teaching/training skills.Demonstrated ability to prescribe and/or recommend a variety of rehabilitation equipment.Demonstrated skill in use of equipment and techniques appropriate to the treatment of clientsDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, other health care staff, clients and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize workload.Ability to work independently and to use a cooperative approach to program delivery.Ability to deal with others tactfully, effectively and respectfullyAbility to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
