Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for an OT Systems Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of production-critical Operational Technology (OT) systems within NOV Subsea Production Systems (SPS) and support our Smart Factory transformation journey.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that OT systems remain stable, reliable, secure, and fit for purpose in daily production operations. You will own the lifecycle of assigned systems, including maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement activities.

As the bridge between production, automation, OT, and IT, you will work closely with shopfloor teams, engineers, vendors, and Corporate IT to support manufacturing operations while helping drive the future digitalization of our factories.

This is a highly hands-on role with significant visibility and impact, offering the opportunity to combine operational ownership with involvement in modern manufacturing technologies and Smart Factory initiatives.

About the Company

At NOV, we deliver safe, high-quality, technology-driven equipment, services, and support that are essential to the global energy industry. Our mission is simple: we power the industry that powers the world.

At NOV’s business unit Subsea Production Systems (SPS) we empower the energy sector with passion, expertise, and forward-thinking solutions. We develop reliable and efficient subsea energy production products that enhance our customers’ energy portfolios. With strong roots in the offshore oil and gas industry, we are also at the forefront of future technologies such as water treatment, ammonia storage, carbon injection, and wind energy—helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and drive the energy transition.

SPS is headquartered in Brøndby, Denmark, with production sites in Kalundborg (DK), Porto do Açu (BR), Glenrothes (UK), and offices in Stavanger and Oslo (NO), Rio de Janeiro (BR), and Houston (US). Globally, our team includes around 1,500 dedicated professionals, contributing to NOV’s workforce of approximately 34,000 employees.

What We Offer

  • A unique opportunity to work at the center of NOV SPS’s Smart Factory transformation
  • High degree of ownership and visibility within a production-critical environment
  • Exposure to modern OT infrastructure, manufacturing systems, MES, industrial data platforms, and Smart Factory technologies
  • Opportunity to collaborate across Production, Engineering, Automation, Quality, OT, and Corporate IT
  • Continuous learning and development within Industry 4.0 and manufacturing digitalization
  • A collaborative and agile team environment where your ideas and expertise can directly influence future manufacturing solutions
  • Long-term career growth opportunities within OT infrastructure, manufacturing systems, MES, and digital transformation

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of production-critical systems, including maintenance, upgrades, documentation, and continuous improvement
  • Take ownership of assigned OT systems and ensure their availability, stability, security, and performance
  • Act as the primary point of contact for OT system-related topics across manufacturing operations
  • Support incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution
  • Maintain system documentation, governance processes, configuration control, and change management practices
  • Coordinate with Corporate IT on infrastructure, hosting, cybersecurity, Active Directory, virtualization, and networking topics
  • Manage vendor relationships, support agreements, and escalation paths for assigned systems
  • Ensure reliable integration between production systems, machines, PLCs, databases, and business applications
  • Support operational technology infrastructure including servers, virtualization environments, and production-critical platforms
  • Drive improvements that enhance system reliability, data availability, maintainability, and user experience

Smart Factory & Digitalization Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of MES, Smart Factory, industrial data integration, and manufacturing digitalization initiatives
  • Participate in OT infrastructure modernization initiatives
  • Help establish scalable and sustainable digital manufacturing capabilities across SPS sites

Qualifications & Skills

Essential Qualifications

  • Technical degree within Engineering, Automation, Information Technology, Infrastructure, or a related discipline
  • Experience working with OT/IT infrastructure and production-critical systems

  • Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to work
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to balance operational priorities with longer-term system improvements

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience within manufacturing or industrial production environments
  • Experience with MES, SCADA, Historian, or other industrial data systems
