Sentinel Power Services is offering an exciting internship opportunity for aspiring Electrical Testing Technicians. We are seeking candidates eager to gain hands-on experience in performing acceptance and maintenance testing on low and medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, protective relays, automatic transfer switches, motor control centers, ground systems, and more.

This internship will provide exposure to operating various testing tools and equipment, as well as interpreting electrical control schematics and diagrams. Interns will also have the opportunity to document services, maintain records, and write technical reports detailing fieldwork performed.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in performing acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical equipment per NETA standards.
• Learn to operate various testing tools and equipment including megger, digital multimeter, Hipot tester, multiamp relay tester, GFI, TTR, primary and secondary injection set, etc.
• Gain experience in documenting services by maintaining records and writing technical reports detailing field work performed.
• Develop skills in reading and interpreting electrical control schematics and diagrams.
• Participate in extensive testing, problem identification, and troubleshooting exercises.
• Assist in inspecting and servicing transformers, switchgear, and relays.
• Learn to evaluate the operating condition of equipment.
• Contribute to the generation of detailed reports.
• Engage in effective communication with team members and clients.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a degree or certification in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical testing procedures.
• Interest in learning about electrical test equipment and fundamentals.
• Eagerness to gain experience in extensive testing, problem identification, and troubleshooting.
• Strong background or coursework in troubleshooting and performing start-up service is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Occasional travel required for on-site projects
