Position Highlights

  • Specialty: Orthopedic Physician Assistant - We welcome both experienced Physician Assistants and new graduates with orthopedic experience or a strong interest in orthopedic surgery.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current or eligible New York State Physician Assistant license
  • NCCPA certification required
  • Strong clinical, communication, and patient-centered care skills

Opportunity Details:

  • Evaluate and treat orthopedic patients in both clinic and hospital settings
  • First assist in the operating room alongside orthopedic surgeons
  • Perform inpatient consultations, postoperative rounding, and follow-up care
  • Assist with fracture management, splinting, casting, injections, wound care, and other office-based procedures within scope of practice
  • Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, primary care providers, rehabilitation services, emergency medicine, and specialty consultants
  • Opportunity to develop advanced orthopedic skills while working with a high-volume, collaborative practice

Position Location:

  • Canton-Potsdam Hospital (primary)
  • Massena Hospital (secondary)

Schedule:

  • Full-time position
  • Combination of clinic and operating room
  • Dedicated administrative and clinical support designed to maximize provider efficiency.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant. It may be modified in the future and may be eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts. In addition to the base pay range, certain provider positions may be eligible for variable compensation in accordance with health system pay practices. This may include productivity and/or value-based clinical incentives, bonus compensation, or other forms of variable pay.

EDUCATION:

BS: Physician Assistant (Required)

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

PA-C - Certified Physician Assistant - National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), RPA - Registered Physician Assistant - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
