Job Description
Under the supervision of Dr. Garlick, Florida Orthopaedic Institute is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to support a high-volume orthopaedic practice with a focus on sports medicine and knee joint replacement.
This role is designed for a clinically driven APP who is interested in both surgical and clinic-based care, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the operating room, procedures, and patient management with increasing autonomy. The position includes exposure to advanced orthopaedic techniques, including injections, ultrasound-guided procedures, and pre-operative treatment workflows.
The APP will play a critical role in maintaining clinic flow, supporting surgical cases, and ensuring continuity of care across the patient journey. This position includes a structured onboarding and training period, with the expectation that the provider will transition into a high level of independence in the clinic setting once fully ramped.

- Experience in both clinical and surgical orthopaedic settings preferred
- New graduates:
- Strong interest in orthopaedics required

- Experience with injections and in-office orthopaedic procedures preferred (training provided if needed)
- Demonstrated ability or potential to manage patients in a high-volume clinic environment
- Strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and patient communication skills
- BLS required (ACLS preferred)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive patient care in both clinic and surgical settings, including pre-operative and post-operative management
- Conduct detailed patient histories, physical exams, and orthopaedic evaluations with a focus on sports medicine and knee conditions
- Gradually transition to independently managing clinic schedules, including new patient visits, follow-ups, and post-operative care
- Review and interpret diagnostic imaging, including X-rays, MRI, and CT scans
- Perform in-office procedures and injections (knee and other joints as appropriate)
- Participate in and be trained on ultrasound-guided injections and nerve block techniques
- Perform pre-operative procedures such as Iovera (cryoneurolysis) as part of patient care workflows
- Serve as first assist in the operating room, including surgical exposure, assistance, and closure
- Participate in post-operative care coordination and patient follow-up
- Field patient calls and address clinical concerns in collaboration with the physician and care team
- Apply and remove splints, braces, and other orthopaedic devices as needed
- Accurately document all encounters, procedures, and treatment plans in the EMR
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and post-operative care
