What We Offer

Novant Health Ortho Eastover is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our orthopedic team in a dynamic, dual clinical and surgical role. This position features a true 50/50 split, dedicating approximately 50% of scheduled time to direct patient care in the outpatient setting and 50% to operative support in the operating room.
The ideal candidate will confidently manage independent clinic operations two days per week while seamlessly transitioning to the OR to provide high-level surgical first-assisting. This role is essential for maintaining strict continuity of care across the patient’s entire surgical journey.
Core Responsibilities
  • Outpatient Clinic Management (50%): Independently manage clinic operations two days per week. Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, detailed physical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Provide extensive patient education and ongoing follow-up care.
  • Diagnostics & Procedures: Order and interpret diagnostic studies (X-rays, MRIs, labs). Perform a variety of orthopedic injections and joint procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Surgical First Assist (50%): Serve as surgical first assist in total joint replacement procedures and a wide array of sports medicine cases. Contribute to efficient operative workflow and best patient outcomes.
  • Inpatient Rounding: Provide postoperative inpatient rounding and management of surgical patients throughout hospitalization until discharge.
  • On-Call Duties: Participate in a monthly call rotation, providing critical after-hours clinical support and management of urgent patient concerns.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborates closely with surgeons, nursing staff, rehabilitation services, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: Graduate Degree, required. Graduate of an NCCPA accredited physician assistant program, required.
  • Experience: One to three years of experience working in a physician practice setting, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current PA license in appropriate state, required.
    • NCCPA Certification and current DEA registry, required.
  • Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Ability to work with management team and physicians; demonstrated customer service skills, interpersonal skills and communication skills.
