As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Orthopaedic Technologist or Technician provides direct client centered care in support of the delivery of orthopedic services in the emergency room or fracture/plastics clinics, some inpatient and operating room is required at times.
The Registered Orthopaedic Technologist/Technician has responsibilities related to surgical and non-surgical procedures and assists in the care of patients in the clinic under the direction of the orthopaedic surgeon or an emergency department physician. In addition, this role is responsible for ordering supplies, maintaining equipment and provides education related to orthopaedic treatments and follow-up care to patients and families. The Registered Orthopaedic Technologist/Technician works closely with health care team members to ensure patients have received excellent care for acute injuries, post-operative care and chronic conditions.
