Orthodontic Assistant - Orthodontics | Guthrie Medical Group in Sayre, PA

What You’ll Do:

  • Receive on-the-job training with our team.
  • Support orthodontists during patient care by preparing rooms, assisting with procedures, and helping patients feel comfortable.
  • Keep the clinic running smoothly by sterilizing instruments, stocking supplies, maintaining equipment, scheduling appointments, and helping with insurance or front-office tasks.

Shift:

  • Day shift
    • Monday-Thursday 7am-4:30pm; Friday 7am-1pm
  • No weekends!

Aide orthodontist in patient management by contribution to patient comfort with reassuring conversation and actions, while assisting in established orthodontic procedures.

Education, License & Cert:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Dental Radiography certification required within 12 months of employment.

Experience:

  • Preferred, but not required.

Essential Functions:

  1. Obtains dental and medical history and personal information and records this and treatment rendered on chart to support appointment including exposing, developing and mounting radiographs.
  2. Performs duties based on analysis of treatment plan.
  3. Keeps exam rooms clean and stocked including supply ordering.
  4. Keeps oral area clean by use of suction devices, water sprays, cotton rolls and holders and by retraction of cheek and tongue.
  5. Performs certain impressions, pours and trims models then prepares them for treatment.
  6. Arranges instruments, materials, medications and hands to oral surgeon as needed.
  7. Sterilizes instruments and stores same. Prevents crosscontamination during use by practice of barrier techniques.
  8. Supports clerical duties including, but not limited to scheduling appointments, point of collections, answering telephones, complete insurance forms for coverage and predeterminations, etc.
  9. Performs routine maintenance on equipment and keeps equipment and working area clean at all times

Other Duties:

1. Arranges instruments, materials, medications and hands to dentist as needed.

2. Takes care of lab cases, send out and receive.

3. Completes insurance forms for coverage and any other administrative duties.
