Opportunity Overview

We have an immediate opening for a part-time OR/PACU LVN Administrative Assistant to join our team at Reproductive Science Center of the San Francisco Bay Area in San Ramon, California.

  • Schedule: 3 days per week from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM (rotating), one weekend per month and two holidays per year
  • Compensation: $43 to $45 per hour (commensurate with experience)

In this role, the OR/PACU LVN Administrative Assistant will:

  • Assist with preoperative patient intake and preparation within the scope of practice, including preparing patient care areas, obtaining and documenting assigned clinical information, verifying required documentation, and supporting efficient patient flow
  • Cross-train to perform scrub technician responsibilities and serves as scrub technician as assigned; Knowledgeable of proper sterile and aseptic technique and setup/use of equipment
  • Plan for and prepare rooms for all procedures
  • Review case schedule to ensure necessary instruments, supplies and equipment are available and ready
  • Assist in positioning and draping the patient for procedure
  • Demonstrate knowledge and technical skill in the care and use of instruments, supplies and equipment used during a surgical procedure
  • Complete accurate instrument and sharps count with Circulating RN
  • Clean and care for all equipment according to OSHA guidelines
  • Perform room cleaning and turnover of OR after each procedure including cleaning of instruments, removing trash, replacing trash bags and wiping the tables
  • Wash, dry and package instruments for autoclaving; Turn on autoclave and clean per protocol
  • Terminally clean OR/procedure rooms at the end of each day
  • Perform all work in accordance with accepted standards of sanitation, safety and proper handling techniques, including sterilization and disinfection procedures
  • Assist with specimen collection, labeling, documentation, handling, and transport according to organizational policies
  • Utilize the electronic medical record to document assigned patient care activities, print labels, enter laboratory information, and verify appropriate orders are in place Utilize daily logs, patient records, and appropriate outside laboratory forms
  • Assist with patient transport and discharge workflow within the scope of practice
  • Maintain inventory levels for medications, surgical supplies, instruments, equipment, and office supplies to support uninterrupted patient care
  • Coordinate routine ordering of medical, surgical, and office supplies in accordance with established inventory par levels and budget guidelines
  • Receive, verify, stock, rotate, organize, and appropriately store incoming inventory
  • Perform routine inventory counts and proactively identifies supply shortages, expired products, damaged inventory, and opportunities to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency
  • Maintain organization of supply rooms, sterile storage areas, procedure rooms, and operating rooms
  • Ensure emergency equipment, supply carts, and procedure rooms remain stocked and in a constant state of readiness
  • Collaborate with leadership regarding product evaluations, vendor issues, backorders, and inventory optimization initiatives
  • Comfort patients by anticipating anxieties, answering questions, providing support
  • Support and promote excellence in customer service; Act as a role model to others by displaying excellent interpersonal skills
  • Greet patients/guests with prompt attention and caring attitude
  • Assure quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; Follows physician practice and nursing division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, anesthesia providers, embryology, laboratory personnel, and administrative staff to promote safe, efficient patient care
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Demonstrate flexibility by assisting other departments and team members as operational needs require
  • Participate in cross-training across perioperative workflows to maintain competency and operational flexibility
  • Perform duties within the scope of practice and demonstrated competency to support patient care and surgery center operations during periods of low surgical volume or changing operational needs
  • Provide clinical and operational support across ambulatory surgery center locations as assigned based on patient volume, staffing needs, scheduling demands, and organizational priorities
  • Support administrative, inventory, quality, and operational functions at other surgery center locations when direct clinical support is not required
  • Participate in weekend, holiday, and rotating coverage schedules as assigned to support patient care and operational needs across ambulatory surgery center locations
  • Attend meetings, educational sessions, and mandatory training as assigned
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, process improvement activities, and operational standardization efforts
  • Assist with maintaining regulatory readiness by completing assigned equipment checks, documentation, inventory management, environmental organization, and quality monitoring activities
  • Report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, supply issues, and process improvement opportunities to leadership in a timely manner
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements including OSHA, infection prevention standards, and ambulatory surgery center accreditation requirements
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks
  • Identify learning needs and seeks educational or enrichment activities to meet those needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills Include:

  • Completion of Licensed Vocational Nursing Program
  • IV Certification (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Current CPR certification, or acquire within 1 month of employment
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and concisely
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function as a team player
  • Maintains patient and employee confidence and protects operations by keeping all patient and employee information confidential
