Direct Lending (DL) is an investment desk focused on providing privately negotiated financing solutions to sub-investment grade corporates in Europe, working with both financial sponsors and non-sponsored corporates.

The DL team, with c.€3bn AUM, invests using the bank’s balance sheet and distributes to a small pool of debt funds. The team has a mandate to do work across the capital structure providing senior and super senior, mezzanine, HoldCo, junior and structured equity solutions, into various sectors.

You will join a motivated and entrepreneurial group of investment professionals whilst also benefiting from being part of Deutsche Bank’s global market-leading private financing business platform. As part of Deutsche Bank’s Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) franchise you will have access to dedicated origination channels in multiple geographies as well as the bank’s corporate finance teams.

Your key responsibilities

• Execute on strategy for the business
• Support the origination and execution and ongoing risk management of transactions
• Interface and collaborate with other areas within the Bank, including Risk, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Operations to obtain deal related approvals and ensure the effective operation of the business
• Give direction to and have oversight of the junior colleagues in the conduct of their deal related duties and Bank mandated obligations, while also supporting their development
• Develop new client relationships

Your skills and experience

• Degree educated and/or relevant sector/industry experience
• Ability to quickly spot key risk/deal issues and think creatively around how to mitigate these issues
• An ability to think creatively and apply the same to financial structures
• Strong technical and analytical ability
• Understanding of, and the ability to understand changes to, macro market and industry trends
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs
