Job Purpose :
- Establish new relationships and support the maintenance of existing relationship with banks and nonbanks in APAC in Commodity Finance, Structured Trade Finance, Financial Institution, Forfaiting
- department, Credit Insurance, Multi-Lateral and Export Credit Agency.
- Originate deals with new relationships in APAC to meet PNL target.
- Distribute trade assets by arranging for confirmation, negotiation &/or discounting of letters of credit, Billsof Exchange, receivable financing, inventory financing, prepayment financing and asset backed financing.
- Coordinate with other CFS Region’s Managers, Corporate Treasury department, Trade Finance department, to leverage their banking relationship to expand banking relationships in APAC.
- To support Originators globally in achieving the team’s goal set by the Head of Commodity & Financial Services (CFS).
Key Responsibitlies :
- Establish new relationships and support the maintenance of existing relationships in APAC region for originating and discounting or funding of trade assets by establishing strong relationships with all levels and departments within the banks and non bank financial institutions to secure broader and deeper support of CFS business. This is achieved through strong interpersonal relationship, frequent networking through conferences, cold calling and meetings with banks and non banks financial institutions to secure market intelligence and information on market information on origination and pricing of banks’ risks and trade assets, and trade assets appetite.
- Work with new relationships in APAC regions to originate deals.
- Work proactively with Originators and Operations to understand their trades in the pipeline and provide feedback to the Originators the risk appetite and pricing on the trade assets that needs distribution.
- Take ownership to ensure that the trade assets originated or distributed are successfully executed, and profits are made for CFS. Take the lead to assist Operations, Distributors and Originators to solve problems relating to the originating and discounting of trade assets including but not limited to systems and processes issues.
- Leverage on market intelligence & research reports to develop new or enhance existing trade products to assist Originators to offer to banks for funding or balance sheet enhancement purposes.
- Coordinate closely with the global team within CFS to optimize the sale of trade assets capacity by leveraging banking relationships across the bank in different regions and branches. The aim is to collate the bank’s risk appetite on different trade assets to capitalize on the information to make additional profit for CFS.
- To work with global CFS team to develop alternative risk distribution conduits, channels, and ideas to increase origination and trade sale capabilities.
- Ability to fully understanding of the structures, and trade products including accounting treatment, regulatory compliance to provide support to new and existing banking relationships in APAC and where necessary to other regions globally.
- Develop and maintain good and mature working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in ensuring the structures and trade products are complied with COFCO International global policies.
Education and Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in related fields in Business Administration, Accountancy, Quantitative Finance is preferred but candidates from other disciplines can be considered if the candidate demonstrates relevant working experience in related fields like corporate Treasury, Corporate Finance, Financial Analyst, Financial Market or M&A.
- Good knowledge and understanding in accounting, tax, treasury, banking, and finance
- and foreign exchange.
Experience :
- Preferably 8-10 years of work experience in banking or financial markets orcorporate treasury capacity.
- A working knowledge in this area is advantageous.
Skills :
- Meticulous, patient, collaborative team player, with strong interpersonal and social skills.
- Astute, ability to stay focus, prioritize, adaptable
- Effective communicator and presenter at all levels of the people you meet.
- Strong drive and motivation to excel and succeed in complex and fast moving banking and financial markets environment.
- Fluency in written and spoken English. Required to liaise and collaborate with colleagues based in China,fluency in business mandarin is essential.
- Fluency in spoken Cantonese, Hokkien, Bahasa Melayu or Indonesia would be beneficial and preferred.
