Statkraft's Origination activities are about understanding these dynamics and their impact on the pricing of energy and energy-related products, as well as developing meaningful and innovative solutions for our commercial and industrial customers on their journey to decarbonization.

Our Origination business brings renewable energies to the market and to consumers. This is done through balancing services and power purchase agreements with renewable energy producers and hedging or supplies for our industrial and commercial customers (PPAs – Power Purchase Agreements). The latter range from standard electricity contracts to tailored green electricity supplies with guarantees of origin, which provide our customers with proof that the electricity purchased is generated by a specific facility. In order to manage the risks of fluctuating renewable electricity generation, we are also involved in the management of flexible generation plants.

Our origination activities are carried out from a number of offices worldwide, e.g. in the Nordic countries, Central, North West and Southern Europe, as well as the UK, USA, South America and India.

Working in The Global Environmental Markets team

The vacancy is in the Global Environmental Markets (GEM) team, which is responsible for sourcing, balancing and selling environmental commodities linked to Statkraft’s own assets as well as the assets of our customers around the globe. The team is located across Amsterdam, London, and Warsaw. This position is based in our Amsterdam office.

Your Role

As an Originator, you will play a key role in expanding Statkraft’s environmental commodities portfolio. Your primary focus will be the origination and trading of Biomethane and related certificates, with opportunities to develop in adjacent environmental products.

Commercial & Trading Responsibilities

• Originate and trade Biomethane and related certificates, and explore opportunities in other environmental commodities.
• Conceptualise, evaluate, and execute effective trading and risk‑adjusted optimisation strategies.
• Manage positions across the lifecycle—from origination and contracting through execution, balancing, and settlement.

Customer & Market Engagement

• Build, expand, and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with customers, suppliers, and trading counterparties.
• Identify new commercial opportunities through market insight, customer engagement, and cross‑border collaboration.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with colleagues across Origination, Trading, Risk, Back Office, and Analytics to ensure accurate management and execution of trades.
• Coordinate value‑creation opportunities across Statkraft by collaborating with other origination teams covering related products or markets.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure timely and compliant transaction execution, managing documentation, internal processes, and risk guidelines.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including market analysis, product development, and internal process optimisation.

Qualifications

About you:

• Proven trading and/or origination experience within environmental or broader commodity markets, ideally supported by an established network of counterparties.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to build trust and create commercial value.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks under time pressure in a fast‑moving, entrepreneurial environment.
• A collaborative team player with high personal integrity and strong business acumen.
• University degree in a numerate discipline (e.g., Economics, Finance, Engineering, Science, Mathematics).
• Fluent in English; proficiency in an additional European language is an advantage.
