Role & Responsibilities

• 
  Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
• 
  Develop and manage strategic patent portfolios for biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients.
• 
  Advise clients on patent protection strategies throughout the innovation lifecycle.
• 
  Work directly with scientists, inventors, research institutions, and in-house counsel.
• 
  Collaborate with attorneys across a nationally recognized intellectual property practice.

Technical Focus

The ideal candidate will have experience with one or more of the following technologies:

  Synthetic Organic Chemistry

Requirements

• 
  J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 
  Admission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office required.
• 
  Active bar admission in Illinois.
• 
  Master's or Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
• 
  Approximately five or more years of patent preparation and prosecution experience in a law firm environment.
• 
  Demonstrated ability to independently draft high-quality patent applications and manage complex prosecution matters.
• 
  Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and client counseling skills.
• 
  Senior Associate, Counsel, and Junior Partner candidates are encouraged to apply.
