What We Do
Simply put, we help save lives — and we’re proud to say we’ve been nationally recognized for how well we do it. We conduct and fund game-changing research. We educate the public to prevent medical issues and the need for transplants. We offer grief resources to donor families. Pioneer new facilities and protocols that improve the viability of organ and tissue donations. We provide affordable, temporary housing for transplant patients and their families. Partner with community organizations to drive donor registration. We meet with schools, clergy, and local leaders to share our cause and our message. We stop at nothing because we’re the kind of people who give everything.
The Position
The Organ Communications Coordinator (OCC) is responsible for maximizing donation through organ referral management, staff deployment, and coordination of donation activity throughout the Donation Service Area (DSA). The OCC will communicate with hospital partners, determine staff deployment for referrals, review medical charts for organ potential, and conduct medical record reviews on eye and tissue referrals to assess any missed referrals.

What We’ll Bring

Since 1974, Mid-America Transplant has served as the regional organ and tissue procurement organization for eastern Missouri, southern Illinois, and northeast Arkansas, serving 4.7 million people in 84 counties. From our founding goal to assist in the coordination of kidney donations, we have grown to become a multi-faceted organization dedicated to saving lives and enhancing the quality of all donated organs and tissues currently available for transplant. Located in Saint Louis, Missouri, Mid-America is one of 56 federally designated organizations of its kind in the United States.
Mid-America Transplant's primary service offering is to facilitate and coordinate the organ and tissue donation process. With a mission to save lives through excellence in organ and tissue donation, we have been at the forefront of enhancing the quality of organs and tissue for transplant and a leader in eye bank services. Throughout our history, we have relentlessly pursued our core values of compassion, collaboration, excellence, innovation, integrity, and stewardship to create a positive donation experience for Donor Families, which is at the heart of what matters most to Mid-America Transplant.
