Pioneer Industries (an ASSA ABLOY company) is expanding our Order Management Team. This role will be based out of our manufacturing facility located in Carlstadt, New Jersey.

What would you do as our Order Drafting Specialist?

You will be responsible for interpreting customer requirements through various forms, creating detailed manufacturing drawings using templates and AutoCAD-based systems, engineering guidelines, and sketches according to manufacturing requirements.

You would also:

  • Modify existing product design that adjusts to customer needs and meets SDI standards.
  • Interpret hardware templates and prepare detailed drawings for manufacturing requirements.
  • Create layouts, details, and material kits for release to manufacturing.
  • Accurately determine all custom product components required for shop drawings.
  • Develop detailed drawings and anticipate possible issues that may come up during the installation process.
  • Assist in creating detailed manufacturing drawings, collection and updating all necessary hardware templates
  • Provide technical and problem-solving support to Customer Service, Manufacturing, and customers.
  • Follow up to ensure external customer issues are resolved promptly and thoroughly.
  • Work directly with internal and external customers to resolve template and drawing issues or discrepancies promptly and thoroughly to maximize production efficiency and accuracy.
  • Make product recommendations to customers based on their needs and preferences.
  • Perform all duties relating to the processing of customer orders with a high degree of accuracy (orders range from basic stock to highly customized).
  • Take and process specialty orders
  • Use document management system.
  • Maintain appropriate metrics and KPIs.
  • Continuously evaluate and identify opportunities to drive process improvements that positively impact the overall internal and external customer experience.
  • Perform other duties as required.

The Skills and Experience you need:

  • Diploma in Mechanical or Architectural Technology preferred.
  • Degree in Engineering Technology preferred; or 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar role or industry
  • Five (5+) years of drafting/detailing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience with standard drafting practices. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor.
  • Strong math skills with proficiency in Algebra, Trigonometry and Geometry.
  • Previous experience with templates and drawings as a designer or drafter within the architectural hardware industry and/or building products strongly preferred. The ability to read blueprints.
  • Experience or exposure in order processing preferred.
  • Understanding of metal forming equipment limitations and UL specifications desirable.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to interact with others, foster and maintain relationships.
  • A dynamic team player who participates and works collaboratively with others.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills to build customer rapport and resolve customer inquiries.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities or projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong time management skills to be able to work in a fast-paced and thriving environment
