The American Institute of Monterrey (AIM) is a leading bilingual international school committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and high-performing learning environment for students from Early Years through High School. We are seeking a passionate and creative Fine Arts Teacher (Cello, Piano & Orchestra) to inspire students through the power of music and the performing arts. The teacher will design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences that develop students’ musical knowledge, creativity, confidence, and appreciation for different musical styles and cultures. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic educator and musician who can create an inspiring learning environment, encourage students to express themselves creatively, and contribute to AIM’s vibrant arts and wider school community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high-quality individual instrumental or vocal tuition tailored to student ability and progression.
  • Direct and rehearse ensembles to a high artistic and performance standard.
  • Differentiate teaching approaches to meet the needs of students across a range of ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
  • Prepare students for performances, examinations, auditions, competitions, and assessments.
  • Set clear technical, musical, and practice expectations for students and communicate effectively with families.
  • Monitor, record, and report student progress in a timely and professional manner.
  • Contribute to concerts, recitals, productions, and school music events, including some out-of-hours commitments.
  • Maintain safe use, storage, and upkeep of instruments and music equipment.
  • Collaborate with Music Department staff on planning, rehearsals, and programme development.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain high standards of pedagogy and performance.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Recognised music qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • High-level performance ability and demonstrated expertise on one or more instruments or voice.
  • Proven experience teaching individual students and/or directing ensembles across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Strong understanding of music pedagogy, including differentiation, inclusive practice, and student-centred learning approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills, including lesson planning, scheduling, and record keeping.
  • Confidence using technology to support music learning, rehearsal, or performance preparation.
  • A collaborative, flexible, and proactive approach, with the ability to work within a busy and dynamic department.
  • A commitment to high artistic standards, professionalism, and student development.
