Orbital Tube Welder

Compensation: $32.00 - $40.00 / hour
As an Orbital Tube Welder at Impulse, you will be responsible for the precision assembly, welding, inspection and documentation of high-reliability orbital welds used in space flight hardware. This role is hands-on, detail-oriented and critical to delivering flight-worthy hardware on aggressive timelines.
Responsibilities
- Follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and procedures for flight and development hardware
- Setup, maintain and operate the orbital welding system to produce high quality orbital welds
- Document build steps, nonconformances, and test results in manufacturing and quality systems
- Maintain cleanliness and configuration control of flight hardware
- Work closely with engineers, quality, and other technicians to resolve issues and improve processes
- Support rework, repair, and root-cause investigations as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ year of orbital welding, machining or manufacturing experience
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T as well as assembly procedures and specifications
- Proficient with hand tools, torque tools, and measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Certification from a formal orbital weld training program
- 5+ years of orbital welding experience using Orbitalum or similar OTW equipment
- TIG welding experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with welding stainless steel, Inconel and titanium tubing
- Familiarity developing weld schedules and able to weld parameters based on welding defects
