Cherry Tree Dental is seeking an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to join our collaborative, patient-centered team serving the Wausau, Wisconsin area. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver exceptional care in a supportive, growth-oriented organization.

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is responsible for the diagnosis, surgical management, and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects involving the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. In this role, you will play a key part in diagnosing and treating a wide range of complex dental conditions involving the mouth, jaw, and facial structure, while consistently delivering an outstanding patient experience.

You will collaborate closely with referring general dentists, specialists, and clinical support staff to ensure seamless, high-quality care of every patient.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive consultations, evaluations, and pre-surgical workups, including review of medical history, imaging (CBCT, panoramic, periapical), and laboratory findings.
  • Work in close collaboration with the restorative doctor and other specialists involved in interdisciplinary care to aid in optimal outcomes.
  • Understand and manage patient's underlying medical history.
  • Effectively manage patient expectations and experiences.
  • Perform dentoalveolar surgical procedures, including but not limited to simple and surgical extractions, alveoloplasty, tori removal, and corrective surgeries.
  • Place dental implants and perform associated bone grafting, sinus augmentation, ridge preservation and soft-tissue procedures.
  • Manage odontogenic infections and diagnose and treat oral pathologies.
  • Administer local anesthesia, IV sedation and nitrous oxide to patients as needed. Administration of anesthesia services would be consistent with permit level held.
  • Prescribe antibiotics and analgesics to patients as required.
  • Manage perioperative and postoperative care, including complications, follow-up visits, and timely communication with patients and referring providers.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the practice EHR/PMS.
  • Ensure documentation supports proper coding (CDT and CPT where applicable) and revenue cycle requirements.
  • Comply with all Wisconsin DEB rules, OSHA bloodborne pathogen and hazard communication standards, CDC infection-control guidelines, HIPAA privacy and security rules, and DEO controlled substance regulations, including the Wisconsin Enhanced Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (ePDMP).
  • Maintain current emergency protocols, drug logs, and anesthesia records as required by state and federal regulators.

What We're Looking For:

  • D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree from an accredited institution
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery or integrated MD/OMFS pathway
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the state of Wisconsin
  • Current CPR, ACLS and PALS Certification
  • DEA Registration
  • WI Anesthesia/Sedation Permit for scope of practice
  • Board Certified or eligible to be certified by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery preferred
