This role is ideal for an Oracle professional who enjoys working across database engineering, administration, application integration, security, performance, and modernization. You will work alongside software and engineering professionals to maintain and modernize Oracle-backed applications supporting the FAA.

This position is located on-site in Oklahoma City, OK and is not remote or hybrid. Candidates must currently reside in the Oklahoma City area or be willing to relocate prior to their start date.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Engineer, administer, maintain, and support Oracle database environments supporting FAA engineering applications.

  • Perform and support backup, restoration, recovery, and disaster-recovery activities.
  • Monitor and manage Oracle environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and related tools.
  • Troubleshoot database and application integration issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Partner with Java application developers and systems engineers to support applications utilizing an Oracle back end.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, system design, testing, validation, documentation, and technical-refresh initiatives.
  • Support modernization of existing Oracle-backed applications and associated database infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Hands-on experience administering and supporting Oracle Database environments.
  • Experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development.
  • Experience with Oracle database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery processes.
  • Experience with database security, auditing, roles, privileges, and access controls.
  • Experience troubleshooting database performance and application/database integration issues.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or comparable database monitoring and management tools.
  • Experience working in structured software or systems development environments.
  • Must meet applicable FAA suitability requirements for the position.

  • Experience supporting Java/J2EE applications utilizing Oracle databases.
  • Experience with Spring, Hibernate/JPA, RESTful APIs, or similar enterprise application technologies.
  • Experience with WebLogic or Payara application servers.
  • Experience with Liquibase or other database change-management tools.
  • Experience with GitLab, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Experience working in Agile and/or DevOps environments.
  • Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical, or government systems.
  • Experience with Oracle performance tuning, database modernization, migration, or technology-refresh initiatives.
  • Experience with web-based application development.

What You'll Work On

You will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for sustaining and modernizing FAA engineering applications. Rather than serving solely as a database administrator, you will have the opportunity to work across Oracle database engineering, application integration, system modernization, troubleshooting, and technical refresh activities in support of critical FAA systems.
