Within TPD, the Cloud Platform Supervisory Department (CPSD) develops and manages Rakuten's state-of-the-art cloud platform, empowering global scalability and accelerating innovation across its diverse business units.

The Cloud Services Department (CLSD) at Rakuten Group provides high-quality cloud infrastructure and platform services to application developers across Rakuten. Our mission is to enable secure, scalable, and efficient digital innovation.

We deliver key domain services, including compute, storage, core infrastructure components, databases, container platform, observability, and gateway solutions, empowering Rakuten application teams to focus on their core business objectives.

Position Details

<Key Responsibilities>

・Provide overall support and technical leadership around Oracle Database Administration (DBA) related activities

・Manage and maintain Oracle Databases across multiple environments

・Creating and maintaining database backups, replication, and disaster recovery, conduct DR switchover and failover activities

・Maintain database security, upgrades, patching, tuning

・Monitor deployments to maintain database performance and capacity planning

・Write documentation and collaborate with technical peers online

Mandatory Qualifications:

・OCI expert: Experience for streamline and automate the process for Oracle Database migrations into Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, setting up data guard from on-premise to OCI

1) Identifying any repeatable tasks and converting them into tools for these repeatable tasks like applying patches and updates to Oracle Databases, setup end to end encryption for databases

2) Identify the database migration requirements and assist team members in transitioning their skillset to become Oracle Cloud engineers

・Exadata: Experience of Oracle Database administration on Exadata platforms

・Installation: RAC and Dataguard installation and configuration and optimization of database environments

・Database Tuning: Optimize and tune Oracle Databases, including SQL level tuning, to ensure high performance and reliability

・Version Management: Manage versions for ExaData ESS, GRID, and Oracle home, ensuring all systems are up-to-date and compliant with industry standards

・Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks for ExaData, including backups and restore by RMAN, patching, and troubleshooting to ensure system integrity and availability and ASM disk expansion

・Troubleshooting: Complex Problem-Solving skills in primarily Oracle Databases

・Communication: Communicate effectively in English, facilitating smooth interactions with team members, stakeholders and vendors

・Project Management: Lead and manage database-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals and objectives

・RAC and DataGuard: Utilize your excellent experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and DataGuard to ensure high availability and disaster recovery

・Golden Gate: Should have hands-on experience on Golden Gate projects. Experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting various issues on ORACLE, SQL, KAFKA

・Analysis Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

・OS Skills: Linux systems administration experience

・Development: Hands-on experience with automation experience on DevOps Tools like git, jenkins, ansible, python

・Ability to effectively work with members living in different time zones

Desired Qualifications:

・Minimum 5 years experience administering Oracle Database

・Candidate having Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience

・Network administration experience

・Hands-on experience with automation experience on DevOps Tools like git, jenkins, ansible

・Monitoring tools experience like Grafana, kibana

・Experience in GCP
