Job Description

This position coordinates the surgical service specific technology and creates a positive and efficient culture of service to the physicians and team members.

Job Function :

Job Standard

  1. Coordinator is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations and coordinating quality improvement and equipment maintenance for specialty Program.
  2. Manages surgery schedule, communicating with scheduling offices for schedule changes, rescheduling, providing clear, concise information to ensure procedures are posted correctly and correlate with surgeon's intended surgical procedure. Creating/updating/revising procedure cards to achieve accurate list of supplies for materials management team to ensure proper items are pulled/sent for cases.
  3. Order and maintain inventory of service line instruments and accessories, order and maintain ancillary supplies related to surgery. Works with Surgical Services Administrative Support Supervisor/Manager for new items requested, obtaining new item numbers, sending out items for repair/exchange. Meets and welcomes new physicians to service with organized methodology.
  4. Maintain and update OR/Hospital protocols related to ophthalmology surgery.

OR Specialty Service Liaison

  1. Serves as OR Specialty liaison between the hospital and physicians ensuring an excellent patient experience.
  2. Meets the orientation, continuing educational needs and competency development of nursing/tech personnel assigned to specialty area within service area.
  3. Serve as consultant in area of clinical specialty. Provides clinical practice leadership to foster patient safety and an excellent patient experience. Works collaboratively with business manager in an effort to meet and maintain department quality metrics related to service line. Assist with planning and carrying out special hospital and community programs as required/related to service line.
  4. Plan/Organize/Attend quarterly/annual service line Committee Meetings.

Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure :

  • 3 years experience in clinical OR
  • RN
  • BLS
