Therapeutic Optometrist – Tennessee (Johnson City / Bristol)

$170,000–$200,000 | Clinical Autonomy | Modern Practice

We are working with a growing, multi-site optometry group in East Tennessee to appoint a Therapeutic Optometrist due to continued patient demand and expansion.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established, patient-focused practice where clinicians are supported to deliver high-quality care without commercial pressure. The environment is structured to allow Optometrists to focus on diagnosis, treatment, and long-term patient management.

The clinical model prioritises patient outcomes over retail targets, with longer appointment times and an emphasis on continuity of care. Optometrists are supported by experienced teams and modern systems, allowing for efficient and effective clinical workflows.

The practice is well-equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, supporting a broad scope of therapeutic care.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive optometric care with a strong emphasis on medical optometry and patient management. Responsibilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive eye examinations
• Diagnosing and managing ocular disease, including glaucoma, dry eye, and diabetic eye conditions
• Delivering myopia management where appropriate
• Prescribing vision correction solutions based on clinical need
• Providing pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients
• Managing acute eye care presentations
• Maintaining accurate clinical records using electronic systems

Clinical Environment and Technology

• Typical patient volume of approximately 20 to 25 patients per day
• Advanced diagnostic equipment including OCT, Optomap, topography, and visual field analysis
• Additional specialist technology supporting dry eye and anterior segment care
• Electronic medical records system in place for efficient documentation

Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree
• Licensed or eligible to practice therapeutic optometry in Tennessee
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
• Interest in medical optometry and patient management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
