Mon-Fri 830am-530pm, Sat 830am-1pm
1. Communicating with patients to get detailed case histories;
2. Examining the eyes of patients of all ages to detect signs of injury, disease, abnormality or vision defects;
3. Being aware of signs and symptoms of general health conditions (eg. Diabetes);
4. Examining eyes and fitting spectacles or contact lenses
5. Offering advice and reassurance about vision-related matters;
6. Offering help and advice for patients choosing frames and lenses;
7. Writing referral communications to doctors;
8. Liaising with other medical practitioners and sometimes sharing the care of patients with chronic ophthalmic conditions;
9. Undertaking continuing education and training;
10. Managing staff, including dispensing opticians and clerical staff, and training junior staff,
11. Managing the retail aspect of spectacles, contact lenses and other vision care products;
12. Administering, organising and planning the development of the practice;
13. Liaising with sales representatives from vision care product suppliers;
14. Assist the surgeon in refractive operating room.
