
This is full time position, in AMC's Mobile Vision Van.
An Optometric Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the optometrist in providing eye care to patients. This position involves a combination of administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of optometry services. The Optometric Assistant works closely with both patients and the optometrist to facilitate a positive and efficient experience.
Requirements
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include some of the following:
1. Prepare patients for examinations by taking medical histories and performing preliminary tests.
2. Assist the optometrist during eye exams, including documenting findings and measurements according to basic procedures for optometric care using optometry equipment as needed.
3. Schedule patient appointments and maintain the appointment calendar.
4. Manage patient records and ensure they are accurate and up to date.
5. Handle patient inquiries and provide information regarding services and procedures to answer patient questions and assist with navigation across the health system.
6. Drive Mobile Vision van
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalency is required
Language:
1. Willingness to learn how to read, write, and communicate effectively in medical records and on an electronic health record; experience in EPIC strongly preferred.
2. Spanish language and cultural fluency required.
Certificates and Licenses
CA Driver's License required.
Certificate in Optometric Assistance from an accredited program welcome.
Medical Assistant training certificate, completion of training program or on the job experience in optometry care is an acceptable substitute or on the job training.
