Position
The Optimizing Specialist is responsible for identifying and supporting operational improvements across the corrugated sheet plant environment. This role serves as a cross-functional resource to strengthen coordination between production, logistics, planning, customer service, and data reporting.
Working under the direction of the Managing Director, the Optimizing Specialist evaluates operational processes, supports data-driven decision making, and assists departments in closing performance gaps. The position blends operational analysis, production support, and continuous improvement to ensure the facility operates efficiently and consistently meets customer expectations.
This individual will often act as a liaison across departments, ensuring alignment between planning, production execution, and customer commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support & Gap Resolution
Identify operational inefficiencies and support corrective actions across production, logistics, and planning functions.
Assist departments in resolving workflow disruptions that impact production flow, scheduling, or shipment commitments.
Provide hands-on operational support where needed to ensure continuity and performance.
Production Planning & Coordination
Support production planning activities to ensure orders are properly scheduled and aligned with plant capacity.
Assist in monitoring order flow, production status, and backlog management.
Coordinate with production leadership to address constraints and improve throughput.
Logistics & Order Execution
Collaborate with logistics and shipping teams to ensure accurate order release, shipment coordination, and delivery alignment.
Assist in identifying freight or scheduling challenges that impact on-time delivery performance.
Production Reporting & Data Analysis
Compile and analyze production data, operational reports, and performance metrics.
Provide insights that support operational decision making and performance improvement.
Assist leadership in interpreting operational data related to efficiency, downtime, and throughput.
Internal Customer Service Liaison
Serve as a bridge between internal customer service teams and plant operations.
Help resolve order-related concerns by coordinating communication between departments.
Ensure customer expectations are clearly understood and executed within the plant.
Tooling & Incoming Material Verification
Support incoming tooling inspections to ensure tooling meets production specifications.
Assist with documentation and verification prior to production release.
Specification Validation & New Item Setup
Participate in new item meetings to validate specifications and confirm production feasibility.
Review and verify specifications prior to production release.
Support plant teams during first article runs to ensure product specifications are achieved.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives
Assist leadership in identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
Support initiatives focused on process efficiency, cost reduction, and operational reliability.
Participate in projects directed by the Managing Director to strengthen plant performance.
Special Projects
Execute special assignments and operational initiatives as directed by the Managing Director.
Provide analytical and operational support for strategic initiatives affecting plant operations.
Qualifications
Experience in corrugated packaging, manufacturing operations, or a related industrial environment preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Understanding of production planning, logistics, and manufacturing workflows.
Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, customer service, and logistics teams.
Proficiency with operational reporting tools and production data analysis.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
