As an Optical Engineer at MKS China, you will partner with Manufacturing Engineering team to support the design & production floor, validation, and optimization of laser manufacturing processes - including optical alignment, precision assembly, and testing workflows, while collaborating on equipment qualification, quality control implementation, and cross-functional efforts to transfer R&D designs to scalable production, ensuring alignment with industry standards and cost-efficiency goals. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

You Will Make an Impact By:

• Support multiple products to achieve department and company performance goals.

Provide support to Production and continuously make efforts to improve the current process for cost efficiency and cycle time reduction (5S, Lean).
Identify, troubleshoot and effectively communicate issues on the manufacturing floor

Implement corrective actions in a timely manner for product yield and quality improvements

Execute change ECOs for product improvements. Actively work with cross-functional teams (program managers, planners, buyers and document control) to implement the changes, correctly and independently
Maintain and update manufacturing documentation (assembly, alignment and test) for optical, mechanical and electrical designs for fiber and/or solid state laser systems (system and sub system level).

Perform/manage periodic maintenance and calibration of equipment needed for the manufacturing process (tooling, test fixtures, equipment)

• Travel Requirements: Up to 5% of Travel is required.


Skills You Bring:

• 2+ years of experience with assembly, alignment and testing of solid-state laser optical component and system.

Experience in the use of laser test equipment, both optical (power meters, spectrometers interferometers, etc.) and electrical (oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
Experience in product transition into a volume manufacturing environment.
Strong commitment to process control and quality
Working knowledge of manufacturing procedure and process flow; experience and knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing

Good English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills


Preferred Skills: (Optional)
Hiring Manager to include three (3) three to six (6) bullet points that describe the nice to haves
Good understanding of PCB fabrication process and technology

• E xperienced with electrical systems with ability to troubleshoot PCBAs, components and subsystem level

Hands-on experience in fiber splicing and fiber routing (with splice loss optimization skill
