Working Pattern

• Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
• Alternate Saturdays (9:00 – 5:30)
• Participation in 1–2 late finishes per month

About the Role

We’re looking for an Optical Assistant to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day running of the practice.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll be involved across the full patient journey — from reception and pre-screening through to dispensing support.

You’ll be joining a supportive, close-knit team, and we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates confidently with patients, and enjoys being part of a professional environment.

What the Role Involves

• Booking and managing appointments (phone and in practice)
• Running a busy reception desk
• Preparing patients for their eye examination and building rapport
• Carrying out pre-screening tests accurately and consistently
• Supporting dispensing, adjustments, and repairs
• Helping the practice run smoothly day to day

What We’re Looking For

This role will suit someone who:

• May have previous optical or retail/customer service experience — but this is not essential
• Is confident speaking with patients and putting them at ease
• Takes real care with detail and accuracy, particularly in pre-screening
• Is organised, reliable, and happy taking responsibility
• Is proactive and willing to get involved, rather than waiting to be asked
• Enjoys working as part of a team and contributing positively
• Wants to learn, develop, and build a long-term role
