The Boating Safety Specialist position is responsible for public outreach and self-initiated, independent work relating to Florida's boating safety program. This is work providing high-level administrative support by assisting with program management, conducting research, preparing reports, handling information requests, assisting constituents and performing administrative and clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, processing orders, managing supplies, answering customer calls, and maintaining associated databases.
Examples of Work
Assists in answering main Boating & Waterways Section telephone line.
Issues boating safety ID cards.
Prepares and maintains reports and records for boating incident reports, to ensure they are accounted for.
Utilize programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Adobe as needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
Files, maintains, arranges for storage, retrieves or reproduces documents, records and reports, in accordance with public records retention requirements.
Maintains various databases.
Assists with preparation of publications and other materials.
Assist with mail outs from the warehouse, and general upkeep of the warehouse (cleanliness, receiving shipments, organizing storage).
This position also assists the other OPS in their assigned tasks as needed due to scheduling or workload.
