SPECIAL NOTES:

High School diploma or its equivalent is required.

Preferences:

  • Experience working with the State of Florida in an accounting capacity.
  • Experience with State of Florida Payroll processes.
  • Experience working with accounting records and data.
  • Experience with data cleansing, conversion, and/or migration.
  • Experience with User Acceptance Testing related to developing scenarios with pass/fail criteria, developing scripts, executing testing, and documenting results.
  • Experience with audit wage payments.
  • Experience with data reconciliation and validation.
  • Experience understanding financial management policy.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE,

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and auditing principles, theory, and concepts.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, auditing procedures, laws, and administrative rules.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting standards.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems.
  • Ability to utilize spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and motivate employees in accomplishing the Bureau’s objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • The ability to analyze, comprehend and problem solve accounting and auditing issues
  • Ability to perform data analysis and make conclusions.
  • The ability to understand, interpret and apply laws, rules, and authoritative pronouncements

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position will be hired at $20.75 per hour.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the state application and any omission, falsification, or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection process.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Independently audit and review payroll reports while all payrolls are processing.
  • Review requests from agencies for retroactive payments.
  • Maintain and manage all payroll spreadsheets via excel.
  • Assist with validation of data for conversion to Florida Planning, Accounting and Ledger Management (PALM).
  • Assist with executing test scenarios for FL PALM
  • Assist in the reconciliation of payroll related trust funds.
