OPS Park Attendant (Seasonal – 37970731) State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection This position is located in Fanning Springs, FL
and Responsibilities: This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, hard-working individual to fill a Seasonal OPS Park Attendant position at Fanning Springs State Park. This is a largely independent position responsible for cleaning and maintaining five cabins in accordance with the Florida Park Service building standards. There will also be duties for the day-to-day park operations. The successful candidate will be required to perform various duties including the following: cabin and facilities cleaning, laundry, park maintenance, grounds keeping, park protection, visitor services, and ensuring compliance The position is part time seasonal, working 24hrs per week. The selected candidate will be required to work rotating shifts to include holidays and weekends. This position DOES NOT include health benefits or paid leave and is funded through October 1st, 2026.
Visitor ServicesExplains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.
MaintenanceResponsible for janitorial cleaning and maintenance of all park facilities, including restrooms, rental cabins, playgrounds, campsites, pavilions, and grills.
Resource ManagementUnderstand the importance of ecological burning for fire type plant communities; recognize communities and maintain optimum species control via natural and chemical means.
AdministrationPrepare forms and reports on a wide range of subjects including fees, daily receipt and sales reports. Answers the telephone, operate personal computer, operate radio equipment, and maintain logs. Operate a point-of-sale cash register, accurately collect, record and reconcile revenue collected. Maintain an organized work space.
ProtectionEnsures park rules are enforces pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof for enjoyment of the visitor.
Performs related work as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: KNOWLEDGE OF: Basic arithmetic
SKILLED IN: Providing good customer service Basic computer skills
ABILITY TO: Assist with the maintenance and repair of facilities, buildings, roads, and boardwalks Assist in maintaining park grounds Lift 40lbs Work outdoors Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Work well with others Develop and maintain files on research, monitoring and other activities
Minimum Qualifications: Work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays Valid Driver’s License
Position of Special Trust Requirement: This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.
Pay: $15/hour 24/hours a week Seasonal position funded until October 1st, 2026

Located along the meandering Suwannee River, Fanning Springs is an inviting source of cool, clear, crisp water that has attracted people for thousands of years. Fanning Springs produces 65 million gallons of water daily, making it a second-magnitude spring. Historically, Fanning Spring was a first-magnitude springs as recently as the 1990s.
The springs offer the perfect 72-degree water to cool down on hot Florida days and an abundance of underwater wildlife to view. Musk turtles, bass, mullet, freshwater flounder, bowfin (and manatees during colder days) inhabit the springs and river.
