MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The Incumbent will work under the supervision of the Utilities and Maintenance Superintendent.
Assist Utilities and Maintenance Superintendent and Maintenance Repairman in the repair and maintenance of the Veterans Nursing Home. Ensure environmental controls and equipment are operational and properly maintained. Assist with routine and special inspections to comply with laws, rules, and policies and procedures.
Assist with the compilation and reporting of information on energy consumption and vehicle use. Contribute to the implementation of programs for energy conservation.
Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of the buildings does not deteriorate.
Provides routine repair services to defective equipment, repairs physical plant deficiencies, resolves routine work orders, assists with the assembly, delivery, and installation of facility equipment.
Follows the preventive maintenance plan.
Communicate effectively with staff, residents, and vendors.
Completes tasks in a timely manner and document outcomes.
Maintain tools, work equipment and work area in clean, organized manner.
Supports a safe and accident-free environment.
Is willing to learn new procedures and techniques.
Accept assignments and instruction in an agreeable manner.
Attends and completes in-service training by posted training schedule.
Other related duties as required.
Follows FDVA; Homes Program; and facility policies, procedures, and standards.
May be required to be on “emergency call status” as designated by the supervisor.
This position is in the Other Personnel Service (OPS) system.
