OPS GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT I

Your Specific Responsibilities:

General/Primary duties:

  • Work with supervisors as requested in reviewing, creating, modifying, and submitting requisitions in People First Talent Management.
  • Ensure all Career Service advertisements are posted to an outside VP advocacy group website.
  • Ensure correct Veteran Preference points are applied to each step of the recruitment process for qualified veterans (Career Service advertised positions only).
  • Ensure applications/resumes are reviewed, screened, and scored by utilizing the applicant ranking grid.
  • Ensure responses to qualifying questions are documented on the application/resume.
  • Conduct reference checks
  • Monitor vacancy report and coordinate status updates with supervisor
  • Assist with placement of students, residents, externs, and volunteers
  • Ensure the candidate checklist and FRS Certification Form are completed during the interview process.
  • Collect Social Security Disclosure Form from selected candidate
  • Collect and verify Selective Service Registration (print confirmation page) to show eligibility
  • Verify education, if appropriate. Provide PLs with all related pre-employment documents (reference checks, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) authorization, etc.)
  • Obtain and verify through Highway Safety validity of candidate’s drivers’ license for positions that require driving and that they are added to the County’s authorized drivers.
  • Assist with maintaining up-to-date position descriptions for Division staff and ensure current version of position descriptions (PDs) (OPS positions must not have PDs) are updated to meet Department requirements.
  • Schedules and sits in on interviews
  • Provide assistance to different divisions and programs as needed

Other duties:

  • Act as a mediator between Personnel Liaisons and supervisors
  • Assist with recruitment, scheduling and administrative oversight of interns within the Division
  • Provides back up to other OPS GOC I for other divisions
  • Completes timesheet, EARS, and mandatory training in a timely and accurate manner
  • Other duties and special project as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand, interpret & apply applicable rules, regulations, policies & procedures
  • Ability to uphold confidential data
  • Strong internal and external customer service skills
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and software applications
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to work with a diverse population

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • 3 or more years of professional experience in an office setting
  • Knowledge of one or more personnel (HR) program functions, such as Selection, Classification and Pay, Employee Benefits, Employer/Employee Relations or Training
  • 3 or more years of professional experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred –

  • Minimum of 1 year of Professional experience in HR office setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field
