The incumbent in this position reports to the Manager II position with the Medical Examiner Commission (MEC) Unit who reports to the Chief of Policy and Special Programs.. This work involves planning, implementing and coordinating various programs.This position primarily supports event planning such as coordinating the Hall of Fame and Valor & Blue/Red Heart Medal Program, managing users and answering questions for the School Guardian Management System (SGMS), performing administrative tasks, and assisting staff who perform the Medical Examiners Commission tasks as needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Assisting with the Florida Law Enforcement Officer’s Hall of Fame, Medal of Valor and Blue/Red Heart Medal Program, and other events as needed;
  • Assisting management with the coordination and presentation for event ceremonies. Activities may include issuing invitations, assessing materials, obtaining quotes, drafting and responding to correspondence, preparing invitation lists, working with the Media Center, Print Room and vendors, assisting with scheduling, and providing administrative support;
  • Providing administrative support to the Hall of Fame selection committee and Medal of Valor and Blue/Red Heart Medal Program to collect nominations, assess if eligibility requirements are met, and provide nomination information to supervisor to provide to the Governor and Cabinet for consideration;
  • Assisting in maintaining the list, within SGMS, of certified school guardians/school security guards and publishing training schedules pursuant to Section 30.15 (k)(3)(c), F.S;
  • Assisting sheriff offices and schools when needed to ensure they are completing the appropriate information in SGMS such as name, certification type and date of issuance for each school guardian/security guard, the date the person was appointed, if applicable, the date such person separated from employment, documenting misconduct/discharge of firearm, and the management of certificate activation/deactivation;
  • Acting as the primary system user for the SGMS when activating, de-activating and answering external questions on SGMS use via phone and email;
  • Overseeing the coordination of administrative activities for the Medical Examiners Commission and assist the policy and planning unit with the financial operations of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission; and
  • Planning events, administrative tasks, data quality review, correspondence, utilizing Microsoft programs, summarizing, drafting, and researching topics/issues, assisting in projects that coordinate with other units, scanning projects, and other tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Ability to use computer and follow instructions;
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and budgeting principles, practices and procedures;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
  • Ability to develop and organize data into logical format in reports, proposals and other written documents;
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others;
  • Ability to use computer software, including, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Word; and
  • Ability to work and manage workload independently.

BASE SALARY:

  • $20.80/hour

Starting hourly salary will be the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE’s pay policy. FDLE is a State of Florida Employer and offers a comprehensive OPS benefits package (ONLY available to OPS members who will be working 30 or more hours a week), including:

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
