OPS Communications Assistant

Classification Minimum Requirements:

• Strong writing and editing skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
• Ability to explain complex topics clearly to nontechnical audiences.
• Familiarity with digital communications and social media.
• Strong organization, time management, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Job Description:

• Research, interview, and write news stories, faculty and student profiles, and features highlighting UF AI research.
• Develop and adapt content for AIIRI’s website, newsletter, and social media channels, particularly LinkedIn.
• Help plan and produce content that supports AIIRI’s communications priorities and a consistent digital presence.
• Support coverage and content development for seminars, mini-symposia, and other institute events.
• Assist with website content updates and, as needed, photography or short-form video.
• Pitch story ideas and collaborate with the Communications Manager on assignments and editorial revisions.

Required Qualifications

• Familiarity with digital communications and social media.
• Strong organization, time management, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred:

• Current enrollment in public relations, journalism, advertising, media production, communications, or a related degree program.
• Experience with news or feature writing, interviewing, or other forms of reporting.
• Interest in science, technology, AI, or research communications.
• Experience with WordPress, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, photography, or video editing.
