Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for evaluating and reviewing license and registration applications and other data for approval/rejection based on compliance with eligibility standards and regulations. This position enters and maintains data electronically using various databases including Online Registration and Identity Operating Network (ORION) and Cash Receipt System (CRS); composes correspondence and responds to email inquiries; receives and routes incoming and outgoing mail. This position might also handle payments, refunds, daily financial reports and reconciliation of financial ledgers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience utilizing Online Registration and Identity Operating Network (ORION) and/or the Florida Real-time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS) and the Cash Receipt System (CRS).
  • Ability to organize and maintain filing systems.
  • Skill in collecting fees and handling refunds.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Experience processing & routing incoming/outgoing mail.
  • Skill in proofreading documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Skill in composing correspondence.
  • Skill in typing and performing data entry.
  • Skill in using general office equipment such as a personal computer, telephone, scanner, calculator, fax, and copier.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to provide customer service to both internal and external customers.

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • OPS employees at FLHSMV are paid biweekly. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
