Job Description:
Based in Jacksonville, this OPS position provides direct academic support and tutoring to AIBHS students, particularly those with little or no prior coding experience, and serves as in-room classroom support (a TA-type role) for AIBHS courses taught synchronously by Gainesville-based faculty.
Essential Functions:
Student Tutoring and Academic Support:
- Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in Python and R to students with limited or no coding background.
- Develop supplemental instructional materials.
- Hold regular tutoring and office hours.
- Monitor student progress and identify students needing additional intervention or referral.
Classroom Support:
- Serve as in-room presence for synchronously taught AIBHS courses, ensuring smooth session delivery.
- Troubleshoot classroom technology and connectivity issues.
- Administer in-classroom exams and assessments under the instructor of record's direction.
- Coordinate exam logistics, scheduling, and space reservations.
Expected Salary:
$18 - $24/hour; commensurate with education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated coding proficiency in Python and R, with the ability to explain foundational programming concepts to students with no prior coding background.
- Preference will be given to candidates whose schedule allows them to be present at 801 W Bay St. Jacksonville, FL during AIBHS class times (TU/TH 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 4:00-7:30 PM, W 4:30-6:30 PM).
- Prior experience as a teaching assistant or tutor is preferred.
