We are seeking passionate, motivated and detail-oriented professionals for opportunities within the Technical Accounting career stream. Successful candidates may be appointed as either Technical Accounting Specialist or Technical Accounting Executive, based on their experience, technical expertise and demonstrated capability.

Vacancies:

Technical Accounting Specialist

A technical expert who researches, analyses and advises on complex accounting matters.

Technical Accounting Executive

A senior technical expert who contributes to set direction, owns accounting policy/standards and contributes in the decision-making process on complex accounting and reporting matters across the Group.

In these roles, you will provide technical accounting, accounting policy and reporting expertise across MCB Ltd and MCB Group. You will contribute to high-quality financial and sustainability reporting through technical research and assessments, the development of accounting policies and technical documentation, the implementation of reporting requirements, and continuous improvement of technical accounting and reporting processes.

In these roles, you will:

  • Assess new and emerging accounting, sustainability reporting and related regulatory requirements and evaluate their implications for MCB Ltd and MCB Group;
  • Research and analyse complex accounting issues, transactions and reporting matters;
  • Prepare technical accounting assessments, position papers and implementation guidance;
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, technical guidance and governance documentation;
  • Support financial, sustainability and integrated reporting disclosures;
  • Partner with Finance, Risk, Treasury, Sustainability, Strategy and business teams on technical accounting matters;
  • Contribute to engagement with external auditors, regulators and other stakeholders on technical reporting matters;
  • Apply data analytics, automation and emerging technologies to improve technical accounting and reporting processes;
  • Contribute to technical excellence, knowledge sharing and capability development across Finance.


Technical Accounting Specialist

The Specialist role is suited to professionals who have strong technical accounting foundations and are able to:

  • Research and analyse accounting, sustainability reporting and related regulatory developments;
  • Prepare technical assessments, position papers and supporting documentation;
  • Analyse complex transactions, accounting treatments and reporting matters;
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, technical guidance and implementation materials;
  • Support the implementation of new reporting requirements and approved technical positions;
  • Contribute to stakeholder discussions, process improvements and technical capability-building initiatives.

Technical Accounting Executive

The Executive role is suited to highly experienced professionals who can operate as recognised technical advisers and subject matter experts by:

  • Leading assessments of significant, complex or highly judgemental accounting and reporting matters;
  • Critically reviewing technical positions and providing recommendations to relevant governance and decision-making forums;
  • Providing technical oversight and professional challenge over material accounting treatments and disclosures;
  • Overseeing the development, governance and consistent application of accounting policies and reporting frameworks;
  • Leading engagement with external auditors, regulators and senior stakeholders on significant technical matters;
  • Driving technical innovation, finance transformation, thought leadership, coaching and capability development across the Finance community.

To succeed, you will be required to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to interpret complex, high-volume and sometimes contradictory information;
  • Sound professional judgement and the ability to apply technical concepts and principles to complex matters;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, well-structured and insightful technical documentation;
  • The ability to communicate complex technical matters effectively to stakeholders at different organisational levels;
  • A collaborative and advisory mindset, supported by strong stakeholder management and influencing skills;
  • A results-oriented approach, with a focus on quality, positive business impact and continuous improvement;
  • The ability to identify opportunities that benefit the organisation and translate them into practical solutions;
  • The willingness and ability to learn, adopt and apply new technologies.

Candidates should have:

  • A completed Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA (ICAEW) qualified;
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Technical Accounting, Financial Reporting, Audit or Accounting Advisory with current hands-on experience in one or more of these areas;


Technical Expertise:

  • IFRS, IAS, IFRIC, Financial Statements, Disclosure Governance, Accounting Policies, Sustainability Reporting, Impact Assessments, Technical Papers


Candidates who possess the following qualifications will also be considered:

  • IFRS Diploma/Certificate, Sustainability/ESG Reporting Certification, Integrated Reporting Certification
