Are you a friendly, dependable professional who enjoys helping patients and wants to build new clinical skills in a supportive environment? StaffBuffalo is working with a family-owned eye care practice to hire an Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe, paying $20-$25/hour This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong communication and customer service skills who is eager to learn both patient-facing technician duties and real-time medical scribing.

You will be cross-trained to move between technician and scribe responsibilities based on patient volume and provider needs, helping the team maintain an efficient, welcoming patient experience.

  • Prepare and review patient charts, retrieve previous records, test results, and imaging, and ensure documentation is complete and consistent with practice standards.
  • Prepare exam rooms, calibrate equipment, maintain clean clinical areas, explain testing procedures, and answer general patient questions.

  • Comfortable learning computer systems and electronic medical record documentation, including OfficeMate, iFinity, Gmail, insurance verification, and internal optical workflows.
  • Previous experience in optometry, ophthalmology, healthcare, medical assisting, or medical scribing is preferred, although training is available for the right candidate.
  • No specific degree is required; a willingness to learn, accept coaching, and become cross-trained in both technician and scribe duties is essential.
  • Able to work the required 2 evenings and alternating Saturday schedule and travel between the two Southtowns offices for occasional coverage.
