Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Division Chief, faculty physicians, and Practice Manager, provides clinical, surgical, aesthetic, and administrative support for the Division of Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery. Performs advanced ophthalmic testing, patient intake, photography, and medication administration; assists with in-office procedures and surgical care; supports functional and cosmetic oculoplastic services; coordinates diagnostic testing and referrals; obtains insurance authorizations for specialty medications and procedures, including Botox® and Xeomin®; and promotes efficient clinic operations while delivering exceptional patient care in accordance with CICARE, OSHA, and departmental standards.


Salary Range: $36.76-48.51 Hourly


Job Qualifications


Required:
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience or training in Ophthalmology.
  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, basic ocular anatomy, basic ocular physiology, common visual pathologies.
  • Knowledge of common ophthalmic medication.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and sterilization techniques.
  • Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring and recording visual acuity, performing lensometry, refractometry, applanation tonometry, topography, visual fields, optical coherence tomography, fundus photos, biometry, fluorescein angiograph.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize duties to maximize clinic efficiency.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a busy workload.
  • Ability to work as a team member in an ophthalmic office setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to initiative and work on a self- directed basis with limited supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize activities with conflicting deadlines.
  • Responsible, with ability to work in a detailed oriented manner.
  • Ability to learn state of the art diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to order instruments and supplies.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Preferred.
