The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, has a Per Diem opportunity for an Ophthalmic Imager 2 (OI2) in Palm Beach Gardens. TheOphthalmic Imager2(OI2) is competent in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care.Thepositiondocuments in the EMR system and performs ocular diagnostic testing using specialized instrumentation in compliance with department standards.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to the below.

  • Color fundus photography

  • Fluorescein angiography

  • ICG (Indocyanine Green) angiography

  • Optical coherence tomography

  • Automated perimetry

  • Slit lamp photography

  • External photography

  • Ocular motility photography

  • Performs supervised ocular diagnostic testing using specialty-specific imaging instruments, documents procedures, and uploads images into the electronic medical recordPACS platform.

  • Providespatient-centric care.

  • Adheresto University of Miami policies, standards, and values.

  • Complieswithregulations andmaintainspatient confidentiality.

  • Followsbest practicesofpatient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.

  • CompletesUniversity ofMiamimandatory in-services and online training.

  • Attendseducational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.

  • Demonstrateshighquality ofwork through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.

  • Meetsdaily productivity goals.

  • Ensuresall equipment is calibrated, and instrumentation is in proper working order.

  • Participatesin assigned clinical research andmaintainsrequired certifications.

  • Organizesand stock rooms for daily clinical activities.

  • Travelsto satelliteeye centerswhen necessary.

  • Worksevenings and weekends as needed.

  • Performs organizationalduties asassigned

  • MaintainsOPS certifications.

  • Assistswithtrainingofvisiting imaging technicians, residents, fellows, and faculty members.

  • Workswith providers, residents, and fellows to provide training and customization of imaging software including hanging protocols.

  • Actsaspreceptorfor imaging team members

  • Actsas super user for imaging technology implementations and training initiatives.

  • Supportsresidents, fellows, and faculty members with imaging presentations.

  • Performs ocular diagnostic examinations usingspecialty-specificimaging instrumentsunder anesthesia in the OR.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

HighSchool diploma orequivalent

Certification and Licensing:

OCT-C (Certified Optical Coherence Tomography)orCRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer)

Experience:

2years of relevant experience

  • Independently performsstandardized imaging protocols based on diagnosis.

  • Competent in stereopsistechnique

  • Proficientin Microsoft Office.
