The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, has an exciting full time opportunity for an Ophthalmic Echographer 1 (OE1) in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The Ophthalmic Echographer 1 (OE1) is competent in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care. The position documents in the EMR system and performs ocular diagnostic examinations using ultrasound echography instrumentation in compliance with department standards

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to the below.

• A-scan biometry and IOL Master
• Contact/immersion A-Scan
• High-resolution B-scan and standardized A-scan
• Keratometry
• Supervised globe and orbital exa
• Performs ocular diagnostic examinations using ultrasound echography instrumentation, documents procedures, and uploads scans in the electronic medical record/PACS system.
• Provides patient-centric care.
• Adheres to University of Miami policies, standards, and values.
• Complies with regulations and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Maintains a professional appearance.
• Follows best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.
• Completes the University of Miami mandatory in-services and online training.
• Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.
• Demonstrates high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.
• Meets daily productivity goals.
• Performs organizational duties as assigned.
• Ensures all equipment is calibrated and instrumentation is in proper working order.
• Organizes and stocks rooms for daily clinical activities.
• Travels to satellite eye centers when necessary.
• Works evenings and weekends

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

1 year experience in ophthalmic ultrasound

BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Assosciate

• Displays core competency and understanding of appropriate selection of ultrasound probes.
• Fundamental understanding of standardized probe positioning and scan labeling.
• Performs standardized ultrasound protocols.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
