Job Title: Operational Excellence Specialist

FLSA Status: Exempt

Implement and lead projects to improve efficiency and productivity, eliminate waste, and improve safety, quality and service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • In conjunction with plant management, identify opportunities for plant operations improvements, including all aspects of quality, productivity, safety, inventory, turnover, etc. Monitor, review and communicate performance statistics and observations with management.
  • Function as the local leader for implementing and coordinating operational excellence
  • Perform periodic plant assessments with plant management, identify high warranty or service quality issues, review top "problems per home "and identify corrective actions. Identify and share with GM and plant management, Champion "Best Practice "activities.
  • Publish standards and process requirements in designated plant stations. Maintain and update standard work processes.
  • Develop and implement quarterly and periodic operational excellence plans with GM and plant management, track and report results.
  • Ensure the production workforce is properly trained in process and manufacturing methods.
  • Assist plant management with requests to address manufacturing productivity problems.
  • Assist management in problem-solving and training solutions in all departments.
  • Design, develop, and implement training for operational excellence of safety performance, quality performance, and productivity throughout the plant location.
  • Maintain records and statistics to support training history by employee and by topic.
  • Work with Quality Department, Human Resources Department, and Production Supervision to assure training meets all requirements.
  • Identify inefficiencies in the manufacturing process and work with plant management to improve efficiency.

  • Familiar with a manufacturing environment

Education and/or Experience

Some college or university coursework; knowledge of building and construction (manufactured housing as a plus)
