Our Regional Assets business are responsible for managing the maintenance and reliability of our rail network, ensuring it is safe and reliable for regional Queensland customers, communities and industries.

This is a permanent full time position located in Townsville within the Resurfacing North team. The team includes four resurfacing units, each with a Supervisor, Team Leader, five Operator Maintainers, and two Vegetation Control Officers. Together, they work to cover the regions from Rockhampton to Cairns and Townsville to Mt Isa.

In this role, you will be responsible for track maintenance, including operating and maintaining all plant and equipment used by the Resurfacing team.

We are seeking self-motivated Operators or Labourers with experience in operating civil or mobile plant machinery who are interested in broadening their industry experience.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Operate machinery in compliance with all policies and safe work procedures
  • Perform regular servicing and maintenance on all on-track and auxiliary equipment
  • Liaise with the Resurfacing Supervisor regarding program requirements
  • Assist tradesperson with mechanical/electrical repairs and maintenance as required
  • Undertake accurate and timely administrative and recording duties

  • Experienced in operating civil or mobile plant machinery
  • Current drivers’ licence
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Must have capacity to travel and work throughout regional Queensland
  • Must have the flexibility to work some overtime and weekends when required
