About the Team:

The Grocery Outlet Store Support team is here to enable our Independent Operators and Aspiring Operators in Training (AOTs) to be successful Operators. We do this by providing world-class Project Management, Training, Communication, and Support services so our Independent Operators can focus on what matters: their families, business, customers, and communities. We build strong relationships with our Operators by being transparent and collaborative in all that we do and by looking for ways to improve the operator experience continuously.

About the Role:

As an Operator Initiatives Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting cross-functional initiatives that impact Grocery Outlet operators and store teams. This role blends project coordination, communications, meeting and event management, operator advocacy, and change management to help drive operational alignment and successful execution across the business. You will partner closely with operators, field leadership, and cross-functional teams to coordinate initiatives, support organizational planning, facilitate communication, and ensure operator needs are reflected in projects, processes, and technology enhancements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn in a fast-paced retail environment. This role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the drive to move work forward across a broad range of stakeholders and initiatives. This role reports to the Sr Manager, Operator Initiatives.

Responsibilities Include:

Operator Advocacy & Needs Assessment

  • Act as the voice of the operator, ensuring store needs are at the center of corporate initiatives, operational processes, and technology enhancements
  • Engage with operators and field teams to identify pain points, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Help translate field insights into business requirements to inform the development of new technology solutions and process improvements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Technology, Communications, Training, Finance, Marketing, and other teams to support operator-focused initiatives.
  • Help ensure initiatives are practical and aligned to real-world store execution.

Project & Process Management

  • Support multiple initiatives that impact operators, ensuring they are executed on time and with measurable outcomes.
  • Apply foundational project management skills to help develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestone tracking, and status reporting across initiatives.
  • Track dependencies, risks, action items, and deliverables to help ensure initiatives remain on track.
  • Support prioritization and coordination across multiple stakeholders and competing business needs.
  • Assist with process mapping and workflow reviews to help identify opportunities for operational improvement and simplification.

Meetings & Events

  • Support coordination and execution of meetings, trainings, and operator events.
  • Help develop agendas, presentations, timelines, meeting materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Capture detailed meeting notes, decisions, action items, and follow-up tasks to ensure visibility and execution.
  • Assist with large-scale organizational meetings and events through planning, coordination, logistics, and communication management.
  • Help maintain organizational alignment through proactive follow-up, stakeholder coordination, and communication tracking.

Communication & Change Management Support

  • Draft clear, concise, and professional communications for operators, field leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  • Help create presentations, executive summaries, rollout communications, meeting recaps, and initiative updates.
  • Support the design, development, and implementation of technology enhancements and operational projects that improve store efficiency and operator experience.
  • Assist in developing and executing communication plans to ensure operators and field teams understand upcoming changes.
  • Continuously monitor and gather feedback post-implementation to refine and enhance solutions over time.

About The Pay:

  • Base Salary Range: $32 Hourly

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Communications, Retail Management, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in retail operations, field leadership, business process improvement, or a similar role focused on operator initiatives.
  • Understanding of retail store operations.
  • Strong ability to identify problems and generate solutions.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools to drive process improvement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration/project management tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including management, IT, and end-users. Must be comfortable using collaboration tools.
