As a Bench Operator, you’ll set up and operate a variety of hand tools and precision equipment. This entry-level role focuses on compliance with maintenance standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations.

What you’ll do:

  • Operate hand tools and precision measurement equipment such as drills, grinders, files, presses, and low-temperature ovens
  • Follow standard work processes to complete maintenance and alteration tasks in the correct sequence
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and specifications to guide work performed
  • Complete required documentation and maintenance records accurately
  • Conduct in-process quality checks to confirm work meets specifications
  • Ensure all tools and test equipment are properly labeled and compliant before use
  • Track and communicate work order status to support on-time delivery
  • Support team members and provide coverage to maintain workflow continuity
  • Perform start-up and shutdown tasks for production equipment as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ Years of experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, drawings, or blueprints, demonstrated through prior coursework, training, or work experience
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg) repeatedly throughout a shift with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive manual tasks for 6+ hours per shift with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, demonstrated through successful completion of job-related training or assessment
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior experience or successful completion of a job-related mechanical skills assessment
  • Ability to complete required on-the-job training and demonstrate proficiency within a defined training period (e.g., 60–90 days)

  • Basic mechanical aptitude or technical training (e.g., trade school or coursework)
  • Attention to detail in precision work and documentation
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to learn tooling, precision measurement equipment
  • Welding experience is an asset
