Operator
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Pneumatic railcar unloading
● Operate forklift
● Operate company truck to facilitate shipping and receiving operation of bulk goods
● Moving bags of raw materials for the extruders
● Maintains supplies of materials
● Housekeeping; clears out trash boxes and waste and scrap
● Blending product by following specific instructions
● Completes requires paperwork during and at end of shift
● Interaction with various tractor trailer drivers
● Conduct periodic and scheduled maintenance (hoses, oils, tools)
● Monitors inventory
● Perform snow removal around plant and railcars (as needed)
● Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES REQUIREMENTS:
● Strong attention to detail and ability to organize priorities
● Strong mechanical aptitude
● Must be able to work well with others and follow directions
● Must maintain poise under pressure
● Must have basic math comprehension and problem solving skills
● Must be capable of reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
● Ability to be trained to successfully operate automated control systems
● Ability to write and communicate clearly and effectively on work orders and safety improvement recommendations
● Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely throughout the work day
● Ability to troubleshoot system performance related issues to solve basic problems and find a safe effective solution
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
● High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
● Physical ability to safely operator motorized vehicles (tow motor, forklift. railcar mover)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
● Regularly works in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, and often works near moving mechanical parts, motorized equipment and vehicles (tow motors)
● Often it is required to work on outside areas, exposed the weather elements like extreme heat or cold depending on the season.
● Routinely exposed to airborne particulates, dust and caustic chemicals/raw materials
