As an Operative Buyer, you ensure materials are available on time and at optimal cost, keeping operations running smoothly. Through your proactive approach and close collaboration with suppliers and teams, you directly contribute to efficiency, stability, and business success.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for material availability in allocated commodities and assure optimized stock levels. Placement of material orders for allocated commodities and identified demands via SAP.
  • Control of order acknowledgements and follow up in case of nonconformities. Monitor goods incoming dates and escalate to suppliers in case of necessity.
  • Manage and permanently update lead times. Communicate and escalate within Commodity Team in case of abnormities
  • Assure that demand quantities are correct. This can either be assured via direct planning function of operative purchasing (MRP) or close daily interaction with planning functions in production location.
  • Support implementation and responsibility for execution of workflows (e.g. for EDI or Active Adobe).
  • Optimize order quantity in accordance with demand situation. Define ideal order quantity and optimize value via usage of best scale price quantities wherever applicable. Push/Pull orders on a regular base in order to optimise stock level for respective commodities.
  • Create and manage forecasts and coordinate with suppliers (ZM Forecast)
  • Monitor operative purchasing KPI’s and assure continuous supplier performance and stock level improvements in cooperation with commodity team.
  • Avoidance of shortages through systematic usage of systems and tools. Manage shortages in case of occurrence within the commodity team. Monitor and supervise full order handling process and escalate abnormities - analyses and adopt lead times if necessary.
  • Manage variances of orders, invoices and goods receipt. Clarification and problem solving in connection with blocked invoices (execute transactions for blocked invoices and clearing account goods receipt/invoice)
  • Create and maintain supplier master data in close alignment with Commodity management. Maintain material master data, info records and source list within allocated commodity responsibility in close alignment with commodity team.
  • Maintain country of origin and preference indication for part numbers in close alignment with Commodity team.
  • Collect Long-term supplier declaration and keep Master data updated on annual base. Assure Master data maintenance for new articles/suppliers together with technical purchasing

Skills & Experience


  • University degree

  • Experience in operative purchasing or production planning

  • Process understanding and SAP knowledge

  • Technical base skills / MS Office, other tools desired

  • Economic base skills as minimum

  • English skills

  • Proactive, persistent and have business perception and understanding
