Operations Technician (SPC Harris)

Plant Harris Combined Cycle Plant E.B. Harris Generating Facility, a combined cycle plant located in Prattville, AL, is currently seeking candidates for the position of Operations Technician. The selected candidate for this position will be responsible for operating and maintaining a combined cycle power plant.

This position will be responsible for operating combined cycle units, monitoring, troubleshooting, performing maintenance and repair of all electrical & mechanical power plant equipment. This is a multi-crafted position that has the responsibility of performing various other duties that are expected; these include project management and system ownership assignment. The selected candidate must be able to work a rotating day and night shift schedule that includes coverage on weekends and holidays.

Job Experience

  • Previous power plant, turbine, or boiler experience is preferred.
  • Gas turbine or combined cycle experience is a plus.
  • Electrical and mechanical experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong electrical & mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical & mechanical equipment is required.
  • General proficiency in using computer applications, i.e. Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Experience in Maximo work order management system is a plus.
  • An associate’s technical degree in electrical/instrumentation field is a plus.

  • This position requires excellent communication, problem solving skills, and participation in a team-oriented environment.
  • An Operations Technician must have the ability to handle complex and high-pressure situations.
  • An Operations Technician must be a self-starter.
