Operations & Supply Chain Project Engineer – Junior Professional Initiative

Kick-start your career with IXOM in this hands-on Operations & Supply Chain Project Engineer role. Work on real projects that improve safety and operations across a complex distribution network while gaining exposure to logistics, process improvement, and regulated environments.

As part of our Junior Professional Initiative, you’ll benefit from structured development, mentoring, and strong career growth opportunities.

Based in our Melbourne CBD office, this permanent role is ideal for an engineer with 2–3 years’ experience looking to build their career in supply chain and technical projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support technical projects across the Supply Chain Business Unit
  • Manage and contribute to the Management of Change (MOC) process
  • Oversee engagement with third-party tolling operators, ensuring compliance and performance
  • Develop and implement procedures, checklists, and critical controls to minimise safety risks
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, ADG regulations, NHVR, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements
  • Support safety and compliance inspections across third-party sites
  • Investigate incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
  • Identify and assess new technologies and process improvements
  • Support complex projects, including ISO tank (ISOtainer) operations
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on technical and regulatory requirements

Who are we looking for?

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Chemical or similar)
  • 2–5 years’ experience in engineering, operations, logistics, or supply chain environments
  • Exposure to technical projects, process improvement, or safety initiatives
  • Basic understanding of SHEQ principles, including incident reporting or site inspections
  • Interest or experience in dangerous goods (DG) or regulated environments (highly regarded)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn and grow
  • Knowledge of ISO tanks or bulk logistics (advantageous but not essential)
